Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress who works in the fields of film, television and theatre. The most famous of her roles is Teri Joe, the flamboyant lawyer in The Showtime series Soul Food. After her marriage she became Nikki Kodjoe. She was born and raised within Baltimore Maryland. In her early years as a child, she displayed the desire to act and received the Top Actress Award in a Maryland High School Contest. Following her time in acting and in "The Washington Ballet Company" and "The Washington Ballet Company", she earned an acting diploma from New York University. The first role she played as a character in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love fetched the most admiration. Born from Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria from the age of seven, Contractor was well-informed about traveling around the globe and in a wide range of different cultures from a young age. Her education was at a boarding-school in London between 7 and 9 years. Her family later relocated away from London in Toronto, Canada. Contractor was a classical ballet student in Toronto. She was also a star academically. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts. This is a specialized high school that teaches arts in which she didn't just study theater but danced and also. Contractor was just 16 when she realized that acting was going to be her future career. She danced for a decade. After graduating high school, Contractor received a scholarship from the University of Toronto to pursue a dual major in psychology and sociology. She also earned an advanced degree in theatre. Contractor was offered the leading character in Pericles following her one year stay in University. She was a part of the audition for the role in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and won. Her work was highly acclaimed for the 92 shows she appeared in. The play won her an award in 2002, which was awarded to the best production of the Year from Canadian Critics. The opportunity was presented to her to join Stratford Conservatory, which is a private institution that accepts just eight men and four woman for a crash course in classical theatre. Contractor eagerly accepted. The role was secured for Contractor in the next play, and she landed Hermia's part for the role of Hermia A Midsummer Night's Dream.
